VISAS !!!!!!

We wish to remind that some citizens, depending of the country, must apply for a visa to come to Brazil, so please get in touch with the nearest Brazilian Consulate in your country in this direction. Since you will not be receiving income or employment in Brazil, a tourist visa is just fine. In order to avoid bureaucracy delays, we advise you to apply for the tourist visa as soon as possible.

FLIGHT instructions (esp. for participants coming from another country; some Brazilian participants may have particular reasons to prefer another airport), PARTICIPANTS WHO WANT TO BUY THEIR FLIGHT TICKETS EARLY SHOULD PLAN TO ARRIVE AT GUARULHOS, INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT OF SAO PAULO.

HOW TO GET SÃO CARLOS FROM GUARULHOS, INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT OF SAO PAULO

When you arrive in the International Airport of Guarulhos, which is out of Sao Paulo City, you might go to TIETE Bus Station (Sao Paulo's bus station) where you can take a bus to São Carlos.
There are essentially two ways to get to Tiete Bus Station:

• By Taxi: A more expensive service, but more comfortable and easier too. We suggest you buy the taxi ticket by previous payment at the company boxes located inside in the Airport hall, and only take the taxis that stay inside the airport areas. Taxi services cost nearly R$ 90.
  
  You can check HERE the website from one of the companies that operate at the airport and we recommend, the GUARUCOOP.
  
  
• By Bus: You can also choose to go by bus, a less expensive service. The AIRPORT BUS SERVICES is call Metropolitan Enterprise of Urban Transports (EMTU, in Portuguese). The bus stop local stays inside on the airport area, near the taxi's area. You find more informations and timetables in the company website.

When you arrive in TIETE Bus Station, you must find the bus companies Empresa Cruz or Viação Cometa, that have direct lines to São Carlos. The trip of 250 km lasts about 3h30 hours and costs approximately R$ 60.

You will receive informations about your housing from the local organization committee (provided you follow instructions and contact us in due time). Here are instructions to reach various accomodation places:

The hotel (click here for a map) is 5 minutes walking from the bus station. Going out from there it is enough to cross the Avenida São Carlos and follow it up until Rua Jacinto Favoreto which is one of the street orthogonal to the Avenida.
IMPORTANT: THE HOTEL INDAIA IS NOT THE HOTEL RESIDENCE INDAIA (the two are very close to each other and the Residence is the one closer to the bus station).
